Practical Session 2 Update – Germany

We appreciate how much the cancellation of our exams has affected learners and we’re working hard on solutions to ensure they can gain their qualifications at the earliest opportunity.

Provided travel and COVID restrictions remain lifted, we will open a booking period from 11 August– 21 August September with exams to be held November - December. We will continue to keep this under review as our ability to accept bookings remains conditional on the restrictions continuing to be lifted. An update to Applicants will be announced as soon as we can and our Representatives will provide further guidance in due course. We are looking forward to providing candidates with exams again and thank you for your loyalty and support at this difficult time.

Syllabus overlap information

In the first year of any new Practical syllabus, candidates can for a limited period choose to perform pieces set in the lists of the preceding syllabus, but they can't combine pieces from the preceding and new syllabus (except in the case of items that appear in both).

No such overlap period applies to any new scale requirements, sight-reading and/or aural tests, which take effect from 1 January of their year of introduction.

Candidates worldwide may play set pieces from the 2016–2019 syllabus until 31 December 2020. All pieces must be from the same syllabus – candidates may not perform a mixture of pieces from the 2016–2019 and 2020–2023 syllabuses.

Please note, due to COVID-19 we are happy to consider requests for further extensions into 2021 where necessary – please contact us

Candidates can take Practical Grades using the Percussion syllabus (from 1990) until 31 December 2020. All exam requirements must be from the same syllabus – candidates may not present a mixture of requirements (i.e. pieces or supporting tests) from old and new syllabuses.
